BEHIND THE TRACK

Amazing Rats started with a riff Manz came up with while rehearsing alone. He recorded the idea at home and later shared the demo with Rob.

Manz then created and programmed the drum parts in Logic Pro, shaping the rhythms and transitions around the track. Rob later translated those programmed parts to a real drum kit and recorded the final drum performance.

The rapid hi-hat patterns and constant transitions between cymbals give the song an unusually restless, accelerated feel. That energy eventually became closely connected to the identity of Amazing Rats — almost as if the music itself were moving like the rats: fast, nervous and constantly in motion.

Rob recorded the drums while Manz was away from Monterrey, while the guitars were recorded separately at Manz’s home.

The guitar solo was captured in only a few takes. Its raw sound was dramatically transformed with delay and reverb, becoming the atmospheric lead heard in the final track.
